We take safety very seriously at Harney Elementary! This week, students participated in two scheduled fire drills to practice what to do in the event of a fire.
Our students did a GREAT job staying calm, following directions, and safely exiting the building. We are so proud of them! 👏🚒

When students make good choices, their names are entered into a weekly drawing. At the end of each week, each teacher draws a name, and the lucky winner gets to visit the Guidance Counselor and choose a special prize from her treasure chest! 🎁

🎉 What a great first day!
We had a great start to the 2026–27 school year today with our Kindergarten–6th Grade and 9th Grade students!
We got those important first-day routines and expectations out of the way, and now we’re ready to welcome the other five grades tomorrow!
📚 Friday, August 14: All students in Kindergarten–12th Grade will be in school for our first full day together.
Regular Friday school hours:
• Elementary K–5: 8:00 a.m.–3:05 p.m.
• Middle School: 8:10 a.m.–3:25 p.m.
• High School: 8:00 a.m.–3:25 p.m.
Our preschool students will join us next week!

☀️ Summer School Starts This Week! ☀️
We are excited to welcome students to Summer School at Covington Elementary beginning Monday, June 1! Families are reminded that students may arrive starting at 7:30 a.m. for breakfast and should enter through the front entrance. Parent pick-up will take place in the playground area, and we ask families to avoid parking in bus loading zones to help keep traffic moving safely. Summer School runs Monday through Thursday through June 25. Thank you for helping us make it a safe and successful summer of learning! Link to flyer.
