Today 4th grade had a presentation by the Soybean Queens. Students learned how soybeans are used from A to Z. Thank you to our presenters for visiting today!
October is National Dropout Prevention Month!
Did you know that students who miss too many days in elementary school are more likely to miss in middle and high school?
This puts them at greater risk of dropping out of school. Students who attend are more likely to achieve academically and stay in school.

❤️ Octubre es el Mes Nacional de los Directores Escolares, y este mensaje nace del corazón.
Sabemos que quizá seamos un poco parciales, pero sinceramente creemos que contamos con algunos de los mejores.
Ser director escolar significa mucho más que dirigir una escuela. Significa conocer a sus estudiantes, creer en ellos, celebrar sus logros y acompañarlos durante los días difíciles. Significa apoyar a los maestros y al personal, escuchar a las familias, resolver situaciones que muchas veces nadie más ve y tomar innumerables decisiones cada día teniendo siempre algo muy importante en mente: ¿qué es lo mejor para nuestros estudiantes?
Y eso es precisamente lo que hace tan especiales a nuestros directores.
Ellos realmente se preocupan por sus estudiantes. Quieren verlos triunfar académicamente, pero también quieren que se sientan seguros, apoyados, valorados y reconocidos. Están presentes en los grandes momentos y también en los pequeños: en las celebraciones, los desafíos, las conversaciones en los pasillos y en todos esos momentos detrás de escenas que quizá nunca reciban reconocimiento.

4th Grade had a great trip to Lincoln on Friday! They visited Morrill Hall, Memorial Stadium, and the State Capital. It was a fun, rainy day!
Our Dakota City Elementary 5th graders had an unforgettable field trip to Ponca State Park for the annual Missouri River Outdoor Expo! From hands-on wildlife exhibits and archery to kayaking and outdoor survival skills, our students spent the day exploring the beauty of Nebraska's natural environment and testing out new skills. Field trips like this give our students a chance to connect what they learn in the classroom with the world right in our backyard. A big THANK YOU to the staff and volunteers at Ponca State Park, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, and our incredible teachers and chaperones for making this day safe, educational, and super fun! 🙌

South Sioux City High School’s Educators Rising students are giving back through a School Supply Drive, and they need your help!
As part of their community service project, students will be collecting school supplies to help support our local schools and classrooms. Families and staff are invited to donate during Parent-Teacher Conferences on October 21 & 22.
📍 Drop off donations at the Educators Rising table at South Sioux City High School.
Suggested donations include pencils, black pens, highlighters, paper, binders, notebooks, tissues, hand sanitizer, earbuds and backpacks.
❤️ Every donation helps our students make a difference right here in our community. Thank you for supporting Educators Rising and our SSC schools.

🚨 DRILL UPDATE: DAKOTA CITY ELEMENTARY 🚨
Yesterday afternoon, Dakota City Elementary successfully completed a planned site evacuation drill!
Our students and staff did a phenomenal job quickly and safely making their way to our secondary site. Exercises like this help ensure our entire school community is prepared, calm, and safe in the event of a real emergency.
Thank you to our dedicated teachers, staff, and local first responders for their support, and a big shout-out to our kids for being such fantastic listeners today! 👏✨
