The Communications & Community Engagement Department helps tell the story of South Sioux City Community Schools while strengthening connections among our schools, families, staff, and community.

Through clear, accessible communication and meaningful engagement, we work to celebrate our students and staff, build trust and connection, and ensure our Cardinal community feels informed, welcomed, and connected to our schools.

What We Do

Our department supports schools, staff, students, and families across the district through a wide range of communication, engagement, outreach, and storytelling efforts.

Our work includes:

  • District Communications — Sharing timely and important information with families, staff, students, and our community through district communication platforms.

  • Storytelling & Social Media — Highlighting student experiences, staff accomplishments, school programs, events, and the everyday moments that make us Cardinal Proud.

  • Website & Digital Communications — Supporting district and school websites, the SSC Cardinals app, Thrillshare, and other digital communication tools.

  • Family & Community Engagement — Creating opportunities to strengthen connections between our schools, families, community organizations, and district resources.

  • Multilingual Communication & Family Outreach — Coordinating Bilingual Community Liaison services and helping make district information and opportunities accessible to our multilingual families.

  • Branding & Marketing — Supporting consistent district branding, visual identity, promotional materials, campaigns, and school communication efforts.

  • Media & Public Relations — Connecting with local media and helping share district news, accomplishments, events, and important information with the broader community.

  • Community Partnerships & Outreach — Building relationships with community organizations and partners that help support our students and families.

  • District Events & Initiatives — Providing communication, promotion, outreach, and engagement support for districtwide programs, events, and special initiatives.
