Our district is proud to have Bilingual Community Liaisons who serve as vital bridges between our schools, families, and community. Our Liaison team provides language and cultural support to help ensure multilingual families can access and understand district information, resources, programs, services, and opportunities available to their children.

Liaisons may assist families with school communication, navigating district resources, connecting with school staff, understanding programs and opportunities, and helping ensure important information is accessible in a family's preferred language.

Our Liaisons also work closely with district and building staff to strengthen family engagement throughout the school year. This may include supporting parent meetings, school events, family engagement activities, district programs, and other opportunities that help families feel informed, connected, and engaged in their child's education.

To help ensure consistent communication, appropriate coverage, and effective coordination across the district, requests for pre-scheduled meetings, events, programs, or family engagement activities requiring Liaison support should be coordinated through the Communications & Community Engagement Department.

Teachers, administrators, and district staff should submit planned Liaison requests to Zaira Torres at zaira.torres@ssccards.org. Communications will coordinate with the appropriate Liaison based on language needs, availability, location, and the type of support requested.

Whenever possible, please provide advance notice and include the date, time, location, family/language need, and purpose of the meeting or event. This allows us to coordinate schedules, maintain consistent coverage across buildings, and make the best use of our Liaison team.

For day-to-day family communication, quick questions, walk-ins, or immediate needs, staff and families may continue working directly with the appropriate Liaison.

This process is designed to provide a consistent districtwide system while keeping our Liaisons accessible and responsive to the families and staff they serve.
